Why additional protection?
It is often wise and important to protect healthy teeth with dental sealant.
This makes it all the more important to use dental sealant during orthodontic treatment.
In order to guarantee optimal treatment, it is especially desirable to use dental sealant on certain teeth.
Dental sealant effectively protects your healthy, caries-free teeth for many years against tooth decay!

The many nooks and crannies...
provided by orthodontic appliances naturally give caries an even better chance to develop.
It's all too easy for bacteria to find spaces in the many nooks and crannies created by brackets that brushing doesn 't reach.
We all know, of course, that dental hygiene is doubly important during straightening of the teeth. But even with optimal, daily cleaning of the teeth, the danger and opportunities for caries to develop are significantly higher.

The dye shows the catastrophic state of dental hygiene!

But this is how it could look when dental sealant is used.

What does bracket area sealing mean for orthodontic treatment?
Before the brackets are bonded or attached to the surfaces of the teeth, the endangered teeth are sealed with a special coating.
This sealant coating protects sensitive tooth enamel around the areas of the bands and brackets.
The reason: In spite of the fact that tooth enamel is the hardest substance in our bodies, it is still susceptible to and endangered by acids.
It therefore makes sense to have your teeth sealed before beginning orthodontic straightening of your teeth!
The real question is: Does it make sense to have straight teeth after treatment but then to have teeth with caries?
